I'm on holiday, yes!

Still waiting for the first snow..

We both worked pretty hard in October and concentrated mainly on agility with the dogs.

Competing has been for some reason difficult for me because I get so nervous that I nearly

feel sick, even though we have done very well while training.

I had altogether 10 starts, four in Noormarkku and six in Riihimäki. About half of them went quite

nicely although we still keep waiting for the 0-results..

Iida began also her carrier as a competing dog. At times our competing was a total disaster and at times fairly

smoothly going. She is really fast which makes my work much tougher than running with Eemeli.

And then Iida.. She really has a passion for agility. I just hope that as time goes further

she will calm down a bit (or not..).

September

We had a very consistent flu in September, it lasted for nearly three weeks. We didn't do long

walkings, so the dogs went for the mole hunt =). Also young and stupid squirrels kept dogs very alert.

After the great show start with Tiuku she suffered from symptoms of false pregnancy and was a

terrible teenager in any case in the autumn shows. She didn't like much of the competitors either judges.

She is a dog who always shows clearly what she thinks of different things. Usually I think that it's a

great thing; I like russells because they have right attitude! But, sometimes I would like to see at least

some manners.. But Tiuku is a lot like her father.. The most lovable and huggable little creature who

really knows how to boss other dogs (and humans..) around without that they themselves notice that..

Iida (below) showed very nicely but this time the judge didn't like her much..

August

After relaxing summer holiday =D I went back to work. After a year I returned to the same

school in Hyvinkää. I think that this was a right decision.

In last weekend of August we celebrated my brother's wedding. The ceremony was

very beautiful and filled with emotions.

July

We worked hard with the painting of the house whole month..

And when it rained, we worked inside.

In July we also had the first official Jack Russell Specialty Show in Finland.

Not much success, but it was nice to see many friends and beautiful dogs.

In July we also visited the show in Tuusula where breeder judge Svante Frisk gave excellent

to Tiuku and placed her second in junior class. The only negative thing was her wild behaviour..

They had started the ring about an hour earlier than they were supposed to and we had to take

Tiuku straight from the car to the ring..

Tik med bra propot. Lagom benlängd, bra kraft i hubud, sax bett, pigmenterade ögonkanten, fina öron,

bra hals och rygg, fin svanssättning, goda vinklar bak, bra skuldrar, rak överarm, för åldern fint bröstkorg.

Raser lite trongt bak, löst fram, bra steg från sidan när hob kommer i gång, behöver något starkare i ryggen,

trevlig helhet, behöver mera träning.

The best buy with nine euros: Iida's own pool =)

She jumped so many times to my bigger pool that she really needed a pool on

her own. And she just LOVES it. She would play there all day long catching her

toys from the water and making pubbles with her paws which she then tries to catch.

Tiuku likes to watch Iida and Eemeli goes to the pool just to get refreshed.

Eemeli's and Fia's puppies are soon eight weeks and moving to their new homes

Here they are about 7,5 weeks, some wanted to stand and some not ; )

Juhannuspäivänä poikkesimme Rovaniemen KV näyttelyssä paluumatkalla Lapista.

Juhannusaaton Pallaksen huiputus tuntui koivissa kaikilla ja piiiiitkä odotus ennen kehää

vei myös mehuja (eikö ne mäyräkoirat lopu koskaan.. ;). Eemeli oli edelleen vähän jumissa

ja jäi valioluokan kolmoseksi (ERI VAK3), mutta tytötpä nappasivat tuplapotin!

Huomasin vasta jälkikäteen, että nyt tuli pieni huijaus..

Eihän va-sertistä saa pokaalia.. Mutta cacibista Iida sai oman pystin

Vieläkin suurempi ylläri oli meidän riiwiölapsi Tiuku, joka pokkasi ensimmäisessä virallisessa näyttelyssään

VSP-pystin. Täältä pääseekin sitten enää alaspäin.. ;) Tiukun pentu- ja nuoruusajan olen

saanut useita kertoja jupista "sitäsaamitätilaa-hokemaa", mutta kerrankin sen sai todeta oikein

hyvillä mielin =). Myös kasvattajana täytyy olla tyytyväinen, koska Tiukuhan peittosi debyytillään

molemmat vanhempansa. Aika typsy!

Ensimmäinen lomaviikko meni kaikenlaisten rästihommien merkeissä. Mutta

 viikon ehdoton huipennus oli viime kesän pentueen pentutreffit sunnuntaina.

Kuten odotuksissa oli, vauhtia ja vaarallisia tilanteita riitti, mutta suurimmilta tappe-

luilta ja kärhämiltä sentään vältyttiin. Toki teiniurosten piti ihan pikkuisen kokeilla kuka

meistä onkaan pomo. Tässä yhteydessä suurin yllätys oli Kide, joka on jotenkin säilyttänyt

sen uskomattoman tyynen itsevarmuuden, ja jota ei saanut rähinöihin mukaan, vaikka yritystä

kyllä oli, hieno otus ;).

KUIN TÄSTÄ TAPAAMISESTAKIN!

Pennuista Vili ei ole rakenteeltaan juurikaan muuttunut syystalvesta; se on nallemaisen

vahvarakenteinen, mutta silti melko tasapainoinen. Sillä on uskomattoman paksu turkki, joka

kuitenkin tällä hetkellä vaikuttaa sileältä tai korkeintaan kevyesti karhealta. Lilja on säilyttänyt

pikkuisen kokonsa ja vankistunut rakenteeltaan kauttaaltaan. Lilja on todella äitinsä tytär - ulkonäöltään

ja luonteeltaan. Koirien vilistessä silmissä, moni erehtyikin luulemaan Liljaa Iidaksi. Voitto on mielestäni

kehittynyt viime kuukausien aikana eniten ja ehdottomasti edukseen. Se on vankistunut luustoltaan ja

rakenteeltaan ja tällä hetkellä se on mun mielestä rakenteeltaan ehkä paras pennuista. Toki

se on edelleen ehkä hiukan pentumainen, mutta varsin lupaava kapistus ;). Myös Kiteeseen

olin kovin tyytyväinen. Siinä on paljon samaa kuin teini-ikäisessä Eemelissä. Tällä hetkellä

Kide on vielä hieman kevyt, mutta vankistuu varmasti vielä parin vuoden ajan. Kide on

säilyttänyt hienon ryhtinsä sekä seistessä että liikkeessä.

Kokonaisuudessaan pidän paljon pentujen päistä. Niillä on kaikilla melko kaunismuotoiset

päät ja varsin ilmeikkäät naamat. Toisilla on ehkä hiukan fiiliskorvat, jotka kuitenkin

asettuvat kauniisti, kun vauhti vähän hiipuu. Eemeli on myös jättänyt yllättävän hyvin

takakulmauksia, joita Iidalla ei kovin paljon ole . Jännää on sekin, että vaikka

Eemeli itse on aika iso (30,5cm + vahva rakenne), ainoastaan Kide on sen kanssa

samaa korkeutta. Tämä tosin on huomattu jo Eemelin aikaisemmissakin pentueissa ja

tuleehan pieni koko myös Iidan puolelta (mikä tosin ei ole mikään itsestäänselvyys..).

Ainoa selkeästi tylsempi juttu pentujen rakenteessa ovat hännät.. Ne kaartuvat kaikilla,

enemmän tai vähemmän. Toki ne ovat monella myös fiilishäntiä, eli välillä suorempia ja välillä

kaartuvampia. Tämä oli kyllä asia, jonka tiedostin pentueen suhteen, mutta koska Eemelillä

oli kaartuvahäntäistenkin narttujen kanssa suorahäntäisiä jälkeläisiä en pitänyt sitä katastrofina.

Ilmeisesti sitten kuitenkin Iidan isukki Hucke antoi häntiin vielä extrakierteen ;). Toisaalta,

hännät nyt eivät kokonaisuuden kannalta ole ehkä se kaikista merkityksellisin juttu..

Ihan hirveästi on tapahtunut ja silti ei juuri mitään ihmeellistä. Tärkeimpänä tietty varmaan

juuri tällä hetkellä mun ke-sä-lo-ma =) ja Fian pennut. Remontti jatkuu ulkona ja sisällä. Ehdin jo

alkuviikolla ulos maalailemaan, mutta tänään onkin ollut sadepäivä. Huomenna tulee

raksasetä levyttämään uuden kylppärin lattian ja sen jälkeen päästäänkin itse taas

askartelemaan lisää.

Kissankulmankauhuilta on tullut paljon postia ja kuulumisia. Olen tosi ylpeä kaikista pentulaisista

ja erityisesti niiden ihmisistä, jotka jaksavat touhuta kaikenlaista. Niiden kanssa on kokeiltu

vaikka mitä koiraharrastuksia ja niiden ikään nähden kursseja on takana jo aika määrä. Tärkeintä

tietty on se, että kaikilla tuntuu perustottelevaisuus olevan hienosti kunnossa, ja että omistajat

ovat tyytyväisiä pikkuotukseensa (vaikka päällänsä oleva murrosikä tuokin vähän haasteita).

Ihan erityisesti mieltä lämmitti Mian ja Liljan huima 168 pisteen saavutus möllitokokisoissa!

Ei hassumpi tulos aloittelijoilta ja vielä koiran ollessa 10kk iässä..

Monessa mielessä helpon Iidan nuoruusiän jälkeen olemme saaneet taas todeta kuinka ihanan kamala

tuollainen uhmamurkkuteinikoira voi olla. Yhtäläisyydet ihmisteineihin, joiden kanssa saa vääntää töissä,

ovat oikeasti huomattavia. Molempia leimaa hirrrveä uhmailun tarve ja toisaalta ajoittainen epävarmuus

itsestä. Kuitenkin pinnan alla on tyyppi, joka kaipaa kovasti hyväksyntää omalta laumaltaan ja selvästi

haluaa löytää oman paikkansa.

Tiukusta on siis mörköiän jälkeen tullut reipas pikkuotus, joka ajoittain heittäytyy vähän turhankin

reippaaksi. Toisinaan taas se ei oikein tiedä mitä tekisi ja hakee silloin mallia ja turvaa toisista.

Tiukun kanssa käytiin kevään aikana näyttelykurssi, joka selvästi teki sille hyvää. Siellä kun ei ollut näitä

pieniä valkoisia lainkaan, vaan monen rotuisia koiria. Tämän jälkeen kävimme mätsärissä testaamassa

taitoja ja Tiuku saikin punaisen nauhan juuri reippautensa ansiosta (muutenhan se ei sitten malttanutkaan

patsastella pitkiä aikoja, mutta ainakin sillä oli kivaa).

Tiuku on kevään tullen alkanut taas ahtaa naamaansa kaiken mahdollisen. Itseasiassa se muistuttaa

suuresti yhtä meidän lemppariblogissa (Valman blogi) seikkailevaa nuorta russeliherraa, joka on saanut

lempinimen Pacman. Tiuku on siis varsinainen Pacwoman =). Tiukun mielestä kaikki syötävä on syötävä

ja sen lisäksi myös kaikki ei-syötävä on niinikään syötävä.

Tiukun karmeaan kitaan on joutunut kevään aikana jokunen pyykkipoika, sukka ja pikkuhousut,

puhumattakaan lähes sallituista, eli silpuksi on mennyt kumileluja ja myös mun hupparintasku (kun sinne

oli jäänyt namuja). ONNEKSI se söi reiän hupparin sisäpuolelta. "Ihan vain vähän" on tullut maistettua

vierashuoneen ikkunankarmia ja kangasboxin vetoketjua (tosin kolmesta eri paikasta..). Ei liene yllätys,

että Iida viettää nykyään päivät mieluummin Eemelin kanssa kuin Tiukun..

April and May nearly passed away. This spring has been once again a great lack of time.

After fairly nice and smooth childhood and teenage with Iida, we have faced the fact that

we are having a teenage monster at home! She's a lot like father Eemeli when he was young,

at times full of self-confidence, power, speed and energy and at times a bit unsure puppy who loves to be

hugged and kissed. We love her already so much, I think that as time goes further she will be just great! A real

terrier with open-minded, curious and soft side as well. She has also proved to be a fast learner and probably

a bit too intelligent for a dog as his father.

During this month we were first in Houtskär celebrating Easter holidays. It was

surprisingly warm and sunny there.

Eemeli had his own project and finally he caught a huge mole!

Because of our bathroom renovation and open floors, Eemeli got work inside our house as well..

Still living in the middle of winter here in Finland. Even in southern Finland we have

nearly 50 cm snow. It's pretty hard to find white russells from the snow (digging moles)

when it's time to go to sleep at night..

Lately we have been thinking a lot one very nice russell lady abroad. She comes from

the lines we don't have that much in Finland but along fourth dog we would have enough

dogs for several coming years. On the other hand, four dogs could always be in pairs and not any

of them would need to be alone when we are at work. At the moment it sometimes feels sad

to leave Eemeli alone when he would like to stay in the same room with the girls. However,

more often Iida wants to stay with Eemeli because Tiuku is such a terrible teenager.

So, we keep on waiting if there will be female puppies..

Competing in agility with Eemeli in Rauma. The first course was awful. I was so nervous

that I hardly could run.. Lot's of mistakes both from my side and from Eemeli's side. This wasn't

easier for the other ones either, hardly any results. The second course was better, we were 4th

with five points and a bit over time.

International Dog Show in Tampere

There were entered 109 russells!! The Spanish judge didn't like our too white, too smooth and

a way too little Iida =). BOB was a very big and rough coated male. But Iida showed nicely as usual.

This was Tiuku's first show and she behaved quite nicely as far as judge came to see her on the table..

She got a bit scared and looked like "I'm going home now". Compared to other puppies, she looked

like a baby, so we have to wait and see how she develops.

We were having a holiday in Houtskär in the archipelago. Only once or twice before

has the ice been this thick when we have been there that you can walk long walkings around on ice.

Anyway, the temperature was very low and the wind was blowing fast, so we could be outside only

short times.

We won at the unofficial agility competition with Eemeli! The course was pretty difficult and

Niko thought that "You're never gonna survive this" (such a compassionate husband =),

but we did and with style =)
